5/24/2020 headed over to relatives camp with alayna for some shore fishing for bullhead catfish and perch. started fishing at 8 am with a steady south wind and the bite was good on the worm rods. i had one and alyana the other and put out a cat rod also for alayna with a cut sunnie on. wasnt long i thought i had a bullhead bite and set the hook and fish on and a big one. what a fight on the worm rod. after 5 or 6 runs alayna puts in a nice catfish in the net. took a couple of pics and sent it on its way. in the mean time we were catching yellow perch and white perch. at around 10 am alyana was snacking and her worm rod doubles over and fish on she lands a nice bass. alyana says now we both caught a big fish papa. yes alayna i wished you would have caught both. alayna says no papa you always catch big fish and i was very happy to net it for you since you cant get off the deck anymore. aww. i am sitting up on a deck and have to pull the fish up a ledge because i cant afford to fall on the ledge. anyhow we had to leave to get flowers for my wife its our 51 st wedding anniversary and before we left alayna says to me papa can i be fishy2. aww i said of course see no reason why not. had a great day with alayna been a long time. thanks fishy2 hope we can go again. hoping jeff post pics

5/31/2020 alayna wanted to go fishing yesterday afternoon for while for catfish and bowfins so got ready and took her. then i got a message from a good friend jason who wanted to join us and he had a hour drive. tough catching bait water was very murky with the 4 foot waves but we did manage some. windy and cold alayna had the only cut bait on at ist and had a run but noone home. then another shortly noone home again. then jason got set up an within an hour had a very strong run not stopping at all got down to bare metal on spool and set the clicker and fish on , got it about 1/4 ways in when everything just stopped he had a sinker on and was hung up ugh. ended up getting broke off. big cat. then alayna got a run and noone home then we decided to leave as it was getting colder and my wife was making us spaghetti and meatballs. went to bed about 9 pm covered in blankets and my bones chilled. had a good practice run though for the fathers day derby . cooking hot dogs and more over a wood fire for 3 days with fishy2 (alayna) jason my son and daughter in law. cant wait.

6/3/2020 headed over to camp this morning for some cat fish action that never happened. lake like was like glass and water clear not a good sign set out 2 cat rods with sunnies cut bait. 3 light runs in 3 hours but did manage one bowfin. highlight of the morning some time around 9 am bait fish surfacing in the channel south of me when i saw a big wake right in the middle of them a real big one. then about 1/2 hour later saw bait fish surfacing a little north of me when a big head surfaced chasing the bait. what i witnessed next was unreal a big fish and i mean big as a small boat was chasing them on top and making a wave as big as a boat. i hurried and grabbed the camera and tried to zoom it in as quickly as possible but it went down and couldnt see beyond the point. what i witnessed no it wasnt champ as lots would say it was it was a huge lake sturgeon i got a good look at it because it was almost fully out of the water chasing bait. a friend and i seen one a few years ago in that same area . his size is unbelievable . i have caught sturgeons in the st lawrence 4 and 5 footers but it was double that . what a sight made me day and ill never forget it.

Sturgeons can get really big. We catch smaller ones occasionally in the St-Lawrence. Glad you had a good view of it.

6/7/2020 took fishy2 today over to camp for some catfishing. started fishing at 10 am with 3 cat rods and had a worm rod to catch fresh bait. 3 foot waves and stained water perfect. it was so i had fishy2 try and catch some fresh bait pumpkinseeds my favorite. the bite for pan fish was steady even in the stained water she caught white perch sheephead yellow perch and lots of sunnies. fishy2 had one of my hoodies on she loves it. at 11 am she has a run and a drop ugh. then at 11:45 a, she has another run noone home. then the sun dissappeared and she got cold. she says to me papa we need to go home you cant catch a cold. very thoughtful. her ist day as fishy2 and she did well. now to get her north casting her honey bees she designed for jim martino. i can wait i have a feeling lakers and salmon are going to slam them. chawk said he will post pics of fishy2 to this post.
