9/13/2019 headed south today for some catfishing with channel cat early leave 5:30 am for the hour trip. stopped at dunkin donuts and for coffee and we were on our way. the spot we went to was really shallow and on the vt side but it didnt take long for scott to hook up with a cat on a shrimp. but that would be it. scott was fishing for pan fish with one rod and catching some nice yellow perch and small sunnies when i had a run and i i land a big snapper ugh. there goes the pan fish. the scott within 10 minutes lands a big snapper and it isnt happy. i moved an little caught him some small sunnies for bait. then we tried 2 different spots with only one good run and line hung up and i got broke off. it was good to test new waters and thanks channel cat for bringing me with such easy access.

Welcome back! Glad to read your reports. Last year I caught a lot of perch from shore here up north.. nothing from shore yet in 2020. Last year the water seemed to be up much higher in the spring. This year we have a beach already, not sure what that means for shore fishing.
Glad you found some yellows. Hope to hear more soon!

this is prime time for perch near shore and yes the water is very low compared to last spring . i would think if you caught perch there last spring they will be there again

5/19/2020 strange morning fishing perch at relatives camp. nice sunny day winds light an varible but the bite was off. lots of bites but non aggressive bites. landed a bass right off and at 8:40 am my rod doubled over and stopped fish on a good good one it was a about a 10 lb catfish a good fight on a spinning rod. couldnt get it up ledge to net to take pic and it shook loose. im sitting on a deck with the ledge down in front of me i cant chance falling so i try to drag them up a ways to put them in net. then around 10:30 am my rod started bouncing wildy and fish on and what busts out of the water but a salmon. couldnt believe it 4 jumps got him to ledge and he shook loose. strange seen salmon bust water this far down from bridge in channel but never thought one would hit a piece of worm on bottom. im thinking it was cruising chasing smelt or alewifes saw the free meal and grabbed it. never know what your going to catch with my bottom fishing ha ha. i have lakers down here through the ice though.

Wow a salmon!
And it sounds like a big cat, too.
Lately, I'm just as happy when the big ones shake loose. Unless I plan to eat them :D
I'm really glad to see your reports again.

5/22/2020 headed over to the big pond for some shore fishing catfishing with channel cat this morning., channel cat set up with 2 rods one with shrimp the other with a cut bait sunnie. i set up with a sunnie cut bait and and worm rod to keep us in fresh sunnie bait as needed. scott got a couple of good runs early and noone home. then later 2 more and one broke him off 30 lb test line ugh. couldnt have been a catfish had to be a critter with teeth. still i havent had a run. 10:30 am finally my line tightens up and moves slowly about 20 yards or so and stops. i have lots of patience and i knew it wasnt a catfish so i put rod back down and waited 5 or 6 minutes later line tightened up taking line i knew it was hooked then because it stayed tight closed the bail set the hook and fish on and a fighter wow.got it in after 5 or 6 good runs a 8.2 lb bowfin with lots of fight in it left. went home shortly after that to get out of the sun had a fun morning with channel cat. i was 1 for 1 and channel cat was 0 for 4 but it didnt matter it was fun as shore fishing always is. hoping tommorrow i get to take alayna either catfishing ot shore fishing for lakers.
