Converse update

Post by Wdrnr »

Decided to brave the rotten weather down Converse way today. Arrived to flat water and a little mist. Wish it stayed that way but the forecast held as the rain and north breeze kept us under cover for a good part of the morning. SO what everyone wants to know ..... how much water at the dock and the pass to deep water. I think most are good to go. The 20 ft Grady had no problems as we didn't touch or churn any mud on our way out. The only problem we had was there was a crapload of bait all the way down to,Thompsons. We did manage to take three lakers and three salmon none of which were anything special. Sliders were a big help . We got off early as the NW wind came in pretty good style . Better days to come.

I am heading down saturday morning for the derby and it will be the first time launching from converse. I have a 21 foot lund we are putting in. Is there anything I should know about getting to the main lake as far as bottom structure I could hit or things to avoid you don't see on the map?

Just keep your motor trimmed way up, and have your passengers sit up on the bow till you get a couple hundred yards from the dock! Head straight toward Garden Island, dont go straight out from the dock. I was out wednesday in my 19.5 Starcraft, and didn't have trouble. Good luck!

I agree w Heijac, hang a right right off the dock and watch the bottom. Mostly soft sand so you should be good . I had no problems w a 20 Grady white.
