Public Meeting on Lamprey control for Laplatte river 9/26/16

Post by Captain Paul »

There will be a public meeting to discuss Lamprey treatment of the LaPlatte river Monday September 26 from 7-9 pm at Shelburne Town Office Room 1 . I have been told there will be some people there trying to stop the treatment and Us as avid anglers need to be there in numbers to finalize getting this treatment done. I know we all have busy schedules but if you enjoy the fishery that we have and want to see it get better then please take the time to SHOW UP and get the treatment done . PLEASE SHOW UP IN NUMBER BRING THE WHOLE FAMILY WIYH YOU AND GET THERE EARLY SO THE PEOPLE AGAINST US CAN'T EVEN GET IN THE BUILDING THIS IS WHAT IT TAKES NOW A DAYS TO GET THINGS DONE

Hi Everybody
Many years ago VT was going through the process of acquiring permits for all the streams. They would have a meeting for each one to address any public concerns on both sides. Unfortunately attendance was terrible. Myself,Rich Greenough,Tony Bushway and a few others would show up if we were lucky. At the time the old Champlain Forum was just heating up. I was debating weather or not to join it. I repeatedly would read about people complaining about lamprey on their posts. But none of these people were at the meetings. I originally joined to help drive and motivate attendance at these meetings. Once we worked through all the treated streams, the State got a blanket permit and we didn't require any more public meetings. The LaPlatte is a new steam in the process. And the opposition is organized. We need to get serious and overflow this venue with supportive fishermen!!!! Please make plans to be there and spread the word to as many of your friends as possible. THIS IS IMPORTANT! WE NEED TO SHOW UP FOR OUR FISHERY!!!

I will also try to be there... The lamprey that are coming out of this river are really hammering the Burlington and Shelburne areas... This really is a needed treatment.

I hope to travel all the way from Littleton NH to make the meeting? I hope for every effort to control Lamprey. The Champlain fishery is a thing to be protected.

Not much chatter on this thread, I hope there's a good turnout on Monday. Try and make it if you can, I'm sure the opposition will be there in force.

Seriously folks, this is THE meeting to attend to show your support for the continuing, successful use of TFM to control the Sea Lamprey population in the LaPlatte River.
Please try to be there

Paul Thank you for taking up this cause. I would like to be there but am recovering from a bi-lateral hernia operation 4 days ago. Have all your facts in line and remember that these are the same people that wasted $300,000 on a lawyer to fight a salt shed rather than to spend the money to upgrade a sewage treatment plant. Again thanks for all your effort.
