Last Thurs, a friend & I booked a tuna charter in NH. The Captain is a friend of ours. We jigged up some mackerel, then went to some deeper water for some Whiting. Around 11:00 we hooked up a Blue Fin. Within an hour and a half we had him on board. 82" and around 325#

Arms must be dead after battling that beast, nice fish!

Did it a couple times in the early 70's. I was not ever the "lucky" and they went to the Japanese the second that they were aboard.

Nice tuna, worth some $$ I am sure.. What did you guys do with it??

Great fish... I caught a few myself, but never that big.

Matt, when the arms or "wind" were gone, my friend and I switched off on the reel.
Matt & Randy, the tuna took a plane ride to Japan. Haven't heard what he brought yet, but the last tuna the Cap't sold a couple weeks ago, (to Japan) brought $17.00/ #.
Gerry, wasn't following your comment for a second. Then I scrolled up to the pics, and it slapped me in the face. LMAO! !'m sure you will understand that we didn't want to "dwarf" the fish.

As you can see, on my reply to Gerry, I am a little slow on the draw!
The tuna we caught, was caught 10 or 15 miles north of where the "Wicked" boys fish.

Nice fish ,whats so cool is you have to catch your bait first ,which would be fun by its self.BUMP.

I believe I'd have a hard time selling it...although that's a lot of cash.

On the tuna charters, the boat has the federal license. Therefore the boat is the one who keeps the fish. I think if it is under 73" it's considered "recreational" and can be divided up with the clients. Tuna regs can change during the season depending on quotas. Even smaller tuna caught on "recreational" boats need a federal license to be targeted and kept.
This tuna ended up bringing $14.50 / #.
It was a thrill bringing it in.
