My vacation 2012

Post by pierre »

My vacation 2012

Friday morning, the car is all packed up to the roof and ready to leave for 3 weeks of pure fishing. A 3-1/2 hour ride to the camp, once at the camp, unpacking everything and then my wife tells me: go and get supper (go fishing) while she finishes unpacking. By then it is 3h00 pm my first day of fishing in Quebec this year. Not expecting too much for the first day, once in the place that I know that is very good spot, I set up and start trolling, we are allowed only 1 fishing rod in Quebec. One hour later, my cell phone rings: its my son but as I answer the phone my fishing rod starts to bounce, as I go to grab the rod I see a nice salmon jump out of the water, as I grabbed the rod I knew that the fish wasn't there anymore, it had spit out the lure. Oh well, a nice start I still have 3 weeks to fish. I reset and change for another kind of lure, some sample spoons that I made for that lake, well it paid off, I managed 3 walleyes for supper. A first on that lake with my spoons. Back to the camp by six for a good supper and a nice glass of wine. Tomorrow is another day.

The next morning on the water by 6 am and this time I have company, my wife and my two best friends Moka and Sybel (my brown labs). We usually fish in the moring and stop at the beach for lunch with friends and let the dogs have a rest and go swimming. After a few hours back into the boat, trolling all the way back to the camp, a good supper and a nice fire in front of the cabin with a good gathering of friends and wine, beer and porto. The only time we didn't go to the beach was when the weather wasn't in our favor. As for the fishing , fish were in abondance and my spoons were very popular. Three weeks of pure relaxation. I managed some very nice salmon and after fishing in this lake for 42 years; I managed for the first time to catch a lake trout. No one else that I know ever caught a lake trout on this lake. I also helped a couple of my friends to catch some salmon and walleye.

That's great with a lot of great fish. However...I think the labs caught them all, they are so exhausted!

Allo Pierre,
Looks like you had another great vacation and you really beat those fish.
Great pics. I like you showing which lure got each fish.
Nice group of friends and those labs seem to really enjoy being there.

See you soon.

Doesn't look like heaven - it is heaven, great place to be with friends and not bad place at all for fishing.

Of course my buddy Pierre beat us again on fishing target, he got the most of Landlock Salmon and Walleye, but still I was there for 2 weeks and had plenty of fun and fish :D

Ho - forgot to say - this year I was fishing with bait like Rapala and Storm only for a day or so, rest of the time I was using lures ( spoon ) that my buddy Pierre and another friend of mine made and my wife and I catched a good bunch of fish.

Great job on those spoons Pierre.
