lazycs 2012 LOC

Post by lazycs »

A little late but its been work crazy since coming home.

what can be said about the 2012 LOC derby other than totally chaotic, with earlier reports from jusfishn and others on how the east end was on fire with the kings we where looking forward to some great fishing on the west end and after just a couple of hours on the water we where n't disapointed. non stop action all day long with close to 40 fish caught with several other hook ups, mostly kings with cohos for the smoker in the mix. not a bad 1st day lol

while the 1st day was our best, the 7 days that we went out where pretty much the same action with only one day that went slow for most of the morning until a call from Brian aboard the outfitter got us back in the game ending the day with 18 kings netted, never thought id be saying 18 kings as our slowest day but the place is on fire. anyone thinking of a fishing trip i would head for the bar..

It was a spoon only bite for the first 4 days out, a mix of mags and the #3 honeybee being the icecream the kings wanted, the mottled green was hooked up more the any other spoon all week with several other bees working as well. Got to thank Jim Martino for getting more Bees to us, i know Ron and Reggie used them with suscess as well. when we put flasher- flies into it they kept liking the spoons just below and trailing a little behind them and also cheating a smaller spoon just above the flasher. also got to try out a custom made tweenkie rig that was very effective on the wire that a friend from across the border in napierville made up for me. thanks Gordy of sporty gord charters east of Toronto.

If the spring is any indication of what the fall will be with kings pushing 30lbs+ hold on to your rods.. get out there and get in on some of the best fishing action anywhere.

heres a few pics of some fish and tackle used, plus

a #3 mottled green honey Bee buried in a kings jaw..

Thanks Mike for the entertaining report.
Glad you had a great week, and you pounded the fish.
Those kings are beautiful. Nice pics and good description of the active lures.

Andre,
thanks for walking me through to get my trails back up and recording over the phone, nothing like a little tech help while on the water..
we'll get together soon and you can show some more tricks, lol

Scott and Gerry,
those are verticals that i make, i've made several variations of them, those are some that i made with peerless- predator spoon blanks and taped up.

Looks like you did a great job on the vericals, by the size and number of fish you caught last week. :P :P
