Quick couple hours in Shelburne Bay, 5/6

Post by Cas »

Had a small window of opportunity after not being out for about 3 weeks. Headed out to Shelburne Bay off the ledges and trolled south, got a cookie-cutter salmon about 18", but feisty and loved to jump, on my make-shift gin-and-tonic with the tape peeling off, short to the ball with green vertical blades, down 25 over 60. Later on, same side, one of the bigger lakers I've ever hooked into on Chamaplain, but with the wind, going solo, etc. I lost him. Had him up to the boat, stripped line, jumped around, got him closer, stripped line, and lost him. Changed the lure to another similar green pattern, and another laker again on the same side cutting across "the abyss" in the Bay, around 20", then called it quits. Only out there from 12:30 or 1 to about 3:00, but a nice afternoon.

Thanks Mike. I'd sure like to see the bay heat up...it's a great place to fish in a south wind!
Catch and serve with lemon.

Thanks for the report Mike. Too bad you didn't get the laker in the net.
