Hi everyone,
Just found this site and I am enjoying reading it.
I fished the LCI 2 years ago, was not able to last year. The year before I fished it on someone elses boat. I launched at the Apple resort 2 years ago, but that ramp was pretty bad. This year I will be launching at Mallets Bay, I am curious where I should go to get fish checked in and weighed. I plan on fishing around South Hero, up towards the Gut, across the ferry route....Can anyone tell me where my best option for checking in fish would be from there? I guess I could go back to Apple Resort, but not sure if my boat would be able to make it under the bridge with the lower water. also if anyone else wants to give me some pointers on that area, I am all ears. I will be targeting cold water species. I have a 21ft Trophy, will have 4 down riggers, copper lines on planer boards, cheaters/sliders, etc.....
Thank you!!
-Scott

Scott...First of all, welcome to Lake Champlain United! We're glad to see you stopping by.
I don't think the LCI has officially announced the weigh stations for 2012.
Stay tuned to this link as they will surely update it... http://www.mychamplain.net/2012-lci-fat ... ted-yamaha
As for where to fish in the northern parts of the lake, your best bet is to keep in touch with everyone on this site and watch the reports closely as the derby nears. Although chances are, once we are a week out from the derby, fisherman in the derby will get a little tight lipped and the forum may get a little quiet.
Typically, areas around Valcour Island, Providence and Stave Islands, the head of Isle Lamotte, out off the AuSable River delta, etc will produce fish.
Your correct about getting under the bridge to Apple Island...it may not be passable. Keep in mind for the future, the State of Vermont has purchased land for parking and a launch site right next to Apple Islands launch. They expect to upgrade and make it usable in the summer of 2013. Certainly by 2014 it will most likely be one of the better launches on the Vermont side of the lake!
Keep an eye on the reports here, on Lake Champlain United!

Re: Im fishing the Fathers Day LCI looking for weigh in Stat
Thank you very much for the information guys!!!
Im looking forward to coming up to your beautiful lake and fishing the derby, I wish it wasnt so far and expensive to tow my boat up there or else I would come up a lot more often. I may try and come up for a day after the Winni Derby just to get some practice time in.
