April 14th - What specie is that fish ???

Post by Ludo »

Benoit have bought a new boat this winter. He has chosen me and my cousin Mathieu to be the first to fish in his wonderful new boat. I felt like I was his first date !

We have put his boat in the Lamoile River, like the place I've put my boat the first time I fished the Lake Champlain.

We start fishing with planer boards with spoon, trying to find some salmons. It wasn't long before we had a bite. The first species to enter Benoit's new boat is...

A mussel !

That was fun, but let's be serious and continue to find salmon. The next species to enter the boat is...

Pike

Hahaha. Ok, don't give up and try again... And yes, a very huge hit, too hard to be a salmon. The answer:

Pike

Ok, Benoit said: riding 2 hours to fish pike, enought is enought. Direction: Winooski. That's where the fun continued.

I did not remember how much lakers we have cought. I think it's 8. We kept 7 fishes, I've put accidentaly a good sized lakers in the water with the special move that my partners called "Ludo Technic". I remember how much fun we had on the water.

There is the video I made to remember this day. I need your help to identify the species at the end of the video.

Spoons, rapala in 8-16 feets of water, where the water was warmer, it was the trick. Boat was running at 2.1 MPH, we began to catch with downrigger when we rise the speed at 2.7-2.8.

Very funny video Ludo... nice to have plenty of free time.
There were many Princecraft near Winooski Saturday...too bad I didn't know you where there too.
I recognized the fish at the end of the video is a "Lake Trooth"

Nice video Ludo! I think you have a mature dork fish. But I never seen one, so not certain.

It's a Denture Trout Ludo.
Although highly prized, they are illegal to take out of the water in Vermont. You need to destroy the video and all evidence of catching that fish.

I smiled the entire time watching that video Ludo...a great video...one for the record books.
Thanks for the fantastic entertainment!
