Inland Sea Pike

Post by JK47 »

Great day out on Sunday in the IS. Wind was around 10-15S. Water temps are picking up and the water is fairly clear. I'm finding pike hanging on the entry ways into bays. Smaller pike and pickerel are in the shallows but the real action is not in the bays like keeler, but in the openings to the bays.

They seem to like deep divers that skip off the bottom vs shallow lures like a flat rap or Xrap shallow. Fire tiger was the killer but they also attacked a silver and black troll-to shad.

Went with my 6 year old who had a good time. He reeled in this one but didn't dare hold it. It snapped a tooth off in my lure!

Great looking northern. So what's up? Your son pulls him in and you get the glory shot? Ha! I could only imagine a 6 yr old trying to keep a calm grip and hold for a photo... Good choice.

Nice pike. Sounds like a good outing!
