GOOD Friday!

Post by vtfishin »

Every year our company cuts us loose on Good Friday and it is our tradition to use the day for something fun. We've shot Skeet, fished, skied... we always seem to find a great time.

We had planned on fishing Champlain and decided to stick to our plan at least until the launch, we'd make the final call there. Wind report was for gusts to 29... We headed south and made a couple stops. First, we stopped in to see Ben and pick up a couple Honeybees and Crazy Ivans that we were missing. Second stop was Norm's. Checked out his buck from back in 2000, good story and beautiful deer. I enjoyed talking to Norm.

We decided to put in at Port Henry and we fished the NY and VT sides. The lake was pretty lumpy, 3-4 foot rollers with some nice caps. We hit some lakers and a small salmon.
First hit on a Sausage Gravy Milkshake Crazy Ivan, 25 feet of water, 15 down.

Glad we stopped by and picked it up from Ben on our way down.
After that, Orange and black were hitting pretty good:

Water was 43-44 degrees F...

It was great working through some of the challenges the wind gave my old, 19foot Mirrocraft.

We had a great day out there!

I've never been that far south...I'll have to try it someday.
Thanks for the report.
Catch and serve with lemon.
