0/1 Hard hit on the longline cheater. I've been running a deep diver stickbait off a fixed cheater on the long line. It runs 3-5 down and pulls the spoon behind to that depth. A win / win. Almost. This is the third time a hit on the cheater hasn't stuck. So I'm gonna put a split shot behind the cheater next time to keep the Fish On! Cheaters on downriggers work at least 75% of the time for me. New trick I'm trying to figure out...

In general, a typical Shelburne Bay experience. Expectations optimistic, though never have predictable success. One nice hit and all was quiet. Nice to have a calm day to enjoy the scenery and try some tricks.

If you are using the cheater I am thinking of - they don't stay still very well on braided.
So I modify them a little to hang on better.

Modifying it to stay more "fixed" might be a better way than split shot as I have found using a crank for a trolling diver on walleye that the trailing/higher lure has to be a bit further back than crank or "bottom" lure to insure no or minimal tangles. 12' or so ahead of the spoon or spinner is what I often do- for walleye I even plan on it and pre-tie a bunch of long leaders. If there was a split shot it would keep you from reeling up. Just a thought.
