The past week
Made four Trips to my top secrect spot this week. With the everyday change in wind direction and dip in temp things are a bit spotty.
I havnt put the numbers in the boat that the northern fleet has been doing but I have had tons of Fun
Hot lures are Sausage Gravy Milkshake
Chartrouse and silver speedy shiners
Fat Ivans
Crisp chickens
I guess my biggest problem over the past 20 years not being able to catch a brown was i was to close to the ball with my spoon. I have been running back about 70 to 115 ft behind the ball with great sugges, 12 browns in 7 days, thats more than i have boated in 12 years!
Hear a few photos of the past week.
I cut the bank too close and managed this 3lb small mouth
sunday with the kids
Monday with Tim from Vermont field soports and Pat
Looking forward to some calm winds and sun!!!!

Your ears must have been ringing, cause I was cussing up a storm while I was working on the boat, and got that text of your boys fish! Way to hammer em!

Re: The past week
Interesting point on the browns. I haven't had one on Champlain. Am usually clean and 12 or 16' back. Kudos on the week. I only wish I was closer to the big lake...
As far as a Secret Spot?! I don't believe any of it. I think you are bribing some guy to custom make secret lures for you!

Re: The past week
That is a honey hole for Browns Todd! The northern fleet lives too far away for that trip which for us is a typical 4-5 hr. window on Wednesdays.
I have seen guys in shallow clear gin water on Lake O in small 14 ft utility boats put em back 200 feet (catching them) on days the big boats are struggling off Sandy Pond (sand dunes) in the 1980's. They can be shy and don't want to play on certain days.
Congratulations on removing the curse in fine style this week. Browns don't have a chance with sausage gravy in the H20.
Very nice report! Crazy Ivan lures rock!

Re: The past week
I saw the first pic and thought you'd gone all warm and fuzzy.
Nice brown and it looks like the kids had a lot of fun. Keep after them Todd.

Todd,
Congrats on breaking the curse big time. I would think that 12 browns is more than most of us would catch in a year on Champlain and you did it in a week. The crazy Ivan lures seem to be hot this spring!! Long lining on a rigger!! Nice going!

Now that is how to break a curse! Nice results Todd!!!
Re: The past week
Sounds like a great week. 12 browns should be enough to declare the curse done, especially in only a week of fishing! Secret spot? ... hmmmm!
Re: The past week
Very nice my friend!!! Glad you have been able to get some browns this year. Fat Ivans, Sausage Gravy Milkshake whack them brownies if they are around. Congrats

Nice recap. Great photos 'n' fish. Crisp Chicken...sounds like supper.
Re: The past week
Great fish Todd! Thanks for all your help. The next trip up we are going to have to stick with it and not give up and go for the easy lakers...lol. We will keep alternating between the two spots and hopefully put some silvers in the boat. A brownie would be extra nice. Never caught one in Champlain.
