Cathy Jean lands spring Salmon!
Cathy Jean lands spring Salmon!
Hi Everybody
I spent the morning at Jeff's Boat Repair. He installed some new trim tabs on the Cathy-Jean this morning. A job very well done. Thanks Jeff! Out of the shop around noon and home to pick up the girls( my wife Cathy and her sister Laurie) and spend the afternoon on the Inland Sea. What a beautiful afternoon.
We took a nice long drive to test out the trim tabs. They worked great. Time to get fishing. We spent about 5 hours searching without a hit. Checking for weeds and changing lures, checking for weeds and changing lures and Checking for weeds and changing lures. You get the idea. I needed a break from the rods so I decided to cook dinner. Cheesy Chicken Sausage with peppers and onions. We finished supper and were fishing back to the launch. We had the pleasure of fishing along side WFW and Ben this afternoon. I called Ben on the radio and told him we were approaching the "Honey Hole". He told me to keep it a secret. So I can't tell you where we were. But a few minutes later Laurie kicked the skunk off the boat with a 16 inch Salmon. As I was helping Laurie a rod fires off the planer board and Cathy was all over it. A good 5 minutes later we slip the net under a nice fat clean 23 inch Salmon. This was Cathy Jeans first fish on the Cathy-Jean. What a way to start! I cleaned the 23 incher a little later and it was full of Alwives. You will see it in the pics. The first fish came on a small stick bait. The big one came on a homemade Blue and Silver Bikini Neelefish.
Looks like a very interesting start to the year on the water. Get out and enjoy the lake. The fishing is Great!
Enjoy the pics.

Trim Tabs are a wonderful thing. Nice fish and photos. Curious what you read for temps in the weedy area?

That looked like a great time! Can't wait to get out there. Thanks for the report.
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will go buy a boat.

Glad everything worked out for you with the fish and your trim tabs. Yes, Jeff does a great job!!
I saw you out there, I was in the Swash Bucket close to the beach. Water temp was 54 degrees in 2.5 feet.
Heading back out today.
Great weather for fishing.

Great catch! Maybe they would bite more with a strawberry rhubarb pie for dessert! Great to see you all. Was a beautiful evening to be out.
