Huge Steelie!! - Wish I had caught it

Post by Black Ghost (Ken) »

I don't know this guy or where he caught it, but rumor has it that it went 27.5" and 8.4# from a LC trib.

I'm jealous!

Hey, was there one of my black ghost streamers with a broken leader in its mouth?

That's a friend of mine, Mark...super cool guy and great to fish with. Ice fished with him a few times. I got the text about that fish and my jaw dropped....in reality it was probably close to 29" as you can see here..

Image

Funny story about it is my other friend Mike fished with him the day before and told me he lost a monster that snapped him off....next day Mark lands this pig with Mikes hook in its jaw :D I know where it is but I'm afraid I'd get scolded if I shared lol.

What a great looking fish all colored up! That fish probably isn't possible without the stellar efforts against lampreys.

That's a beauty. I saw that pic somewhere? Probably FB.
I agree with Mark, probably not possible without sea lamprey control. A world class fishery getting even better.
Congrats to the angler!

That is a world class fish. People travel to the far ends of the planet for fish like that - and often catch less

I know exactly where that was caught just by the background. That particular river was running 55 degrees this past week. I stung one small steelhead around 18" downriver.

I took the pic.
I lost the fish the day before.
It jumped when I set the hook then took off down river, I was like "oh boy" but my drag was a little tight and snap.
We went back the next day and Mark got it. Honestly I was surprised it had not left the hole.
