Converse 3-17-12

Post by andersonrmatthew »

Launched at Converse in the am and trolled across to Split Rock. The fog rolled on and we did one 5lb Laker in Whalons on copper/red with Black Dots down 20' Then did 2 salmon between Split Rock and the Unicorn. Copper stinger with orange dots down 14' and the other on the boards with a chartruese straight rapala. Dropped another on that setup and one more on the leadcore with a rainbow trout junior thunderstick.

Fog?!! It was THICK out there. We pursued a similar program but left and stayed outside of Whallens (We went south of the fog, no wind and the weather was sunny). Thought we'd be in lakers but didn't see one all day. We found the salmon pretty spread out and fished deep well off the NY shore most of the morning. Big fish came 70 down on a Yozuri. Nice colored and big kyped male. We also caught fish on Gangrene on 5 colors and on a dodger/blue ghost tandem fly, also with 5 colors out. Nothing on the sliders and nothing on the topwater shotgunned down the middle long. Lots of spoons just got washed. Water was 34.5. Blades might have helped, but we fished naked all day. Loads of fish graphed all day at 65 feet, but only a few would go.
