Oswego Sat/ Mexico Bay Sun

Post by Dirtyhooker »

Sat was tough the lake did not lay down till noon and then it was still 2-4's. We did manage in the morning though 2 6 lb browns out of the harbor. In the afternoon though we could not get anything to go out on the main lake. This morn we launched out of the Little Salmon had all 6 rods out on boards and still 1/2 hour before daylight. It did not take long closed the day at noon with 22 browns for 28 releases. Largest was 8#s bulk were 3-5# Sorry no fish porn I forgot my camera. Hot bait was a Smithwick Rattlen Rouge Chrome and Black with a blue patch on the cheek. Both the 2 and 3 hook versions. As for New Yorks 3 rod rule/ angler I will state that it gets very interesting when 5 out of 6 rods go in less than 2 minutes time with only 2 anglers on board ;) Warmest water we found was 38 close to Catfish Creek in 6-9 fow I can't wait to get back out there.

Thanks for the great report. I'm headed over on Wednesday or maybe Thursday. I'm meeting a buddy on Thursday night to fish Friday and Saturday. I'd drive over on Weds but I'm not sure I want to fish alone on Thursday. First trip out for the year and on a weekday in mid march, I don't think it is probably a wise decision to go it alone.
I will be going out of Little Salmon launch and headed for Catfish Creek area where I usually fish toward the Power Plants.

If anyone thinks they'll be around up there for Thursday, I'll come over on Weds and be happy for the company. PM me.

Thanks Icedawg for the report.
My trip is in mid April, so I try to learn as much as I can.
There has been some very informative posts so far, I hope more to come in the following weeks.

Nice report Icedawg.....hopefully it's not tropic by the time I get there in April....it usually turns into the bassmasters when the water warms up, and we have to push off and switch tactics.......nice job.........nothing wrong with 8lb footballs........
