Would appreciate any ideas you might have on insuring my rig. I have a 17'
Starcraft (1995), 50 hp 2010 Honda, two Cannon electric riggers, GPS, radio,
Depth Raider, etc. My bill for boat/motor/trailer, etc, is $486, and the boat
must be "laid up and out of commission on shore from 12/1 to 4/1." The property coverage is $12,000 boat/motor, $1,000 trailer, personal effects
$1,000, $300 towing & assistance. Watercraft liability coverage is $300,000, medical paymernts is $1,000 and uninsured watercraft is $300,000. There is a navigation limit, but that is not a problem.
My house, autos and boat have been insured by the same company for the
past 30 years. My wife had three really minor fender benders in the last
three years, so the insurance company would not renew our auto coverage.
So I figure I would check out other boat insurance carriers. I don't know if
the amount I am paying is fair or not. Any suggestions??? THANKS!!

Re: NEED SUGGESTIONS ON BOAT INSURANCE
I've been with Progressive for 8 years with zero complaints. Full replacement value insurance on a $30k+ fibreglass fish 'n ski for $150 a year. I've had two claims and my rates haves actually gone down in the last two years. One was when some jack@ss shattered my color-matched fiberglass wheel well fender on my parked trailer in the F&G access while I was on the lake one day - $1500 damage. The other time at another ramp some kids must have been messing around throwing in riprap from an adjacent bank into the water just in front of the ramp. A nice big hole in the fiberglass for nearly another grand.
