7/23/2016 set anchors again at 6:20 am for catfish with 2 cat rods. 6:40 am ist run of the day and i miss. 7:10 am my 2nd run and i miss again. shaking my head is disbelief. then a stall and at 8:20 am another run and fish on i land a very small cat. 8:50 am my 4th run and another miss. then at 10 am my 5th run and fish on and a good one to. got him to the boat after awhile and he went right under the net and under the boat banging on the bottom of the boat and tearing the hook out and gone. looked like at least a 20 lb cat. he will be hungry again and hope i get another chance at him.
here is a pic of the small cat .Imagefree upload pictures

7/23/2016 went back over in the evening after the wind storm to check my boat and the property. got their about 6 pm and my boat was okay but the water was very muddy and lots of weed pushed up on shore 15 feet. so i decided to go out and catfish for while. had no trouble oaring through the weeds this time as they were all washed up on shore. dropped anchors at 6:20 pm and almost instantly seen good size catfish surfacing around my boat. the water was so stained i couldnt even see my bait 6 inches under. set up 2 cat rods and tossed them 10 feet from the boat hoping they would find a hole in between the weeds. 6:35 pm a run and fish on only to lose it shortly after setting the hook. heard a noise turned and my other rods line was peeling off set the hook missed and stole my bait. 7 pm two runs at the same time and chaos. missed one and landed one. a nice chunky 10 lber or so. 7:20 am another run and another stolen bait. lost track of the time so anyhow another run soon after and fish on landed a nice 12 or 13 lber. then another run and another stolen bait. continued like this until i pulled anchors at 8:15 pm. what a run of catfish in the 2 hours i was there. seen several surface as close as 5 feet from the boat. only landed 2 cats but what a run. unreal.
only had time for 1 pic here it is. all cats released also.

7/25 and 7/26 2016 wayne joined me for some catfishing. 10 hours of fishing both days and only 4 runs and no takers. lots surfacing this morning closer to shore and some big carp. decided to go over and this evening and try for carp. set anchors at 5:45 pm with one rod for catfish and the other for carp. 5:50 pm a run on the cat bait and i landed a nice bowfin approx. 8lbs or so. then another run soon after and a miss. then a few more misses then at 8 pm a strong run and i missed and the cat stole the bait. put another bait on threw it out saw a big fish surface 30 feet or so from my boat and it wasnt long my line was peeling off the reel at an incredible speed. closed the bail set the hook and fish on couldnt get it out of the jungle weeds and it shook loose after about one minute. this cat was a brute and probably was an easy 20 lbs. pulled anchors went home . had 7 runs on the catfish bait and 0 runs on the carp bait. big fish were surfacing the whole 2 and half hours i was there. anchored in less then 2 fow close to shore for the carp.

7/28/2016 set anchors at 6:15 am in 2 fow and stained water. anchored the boat facing the west since there wasnt much wind. set the ist rod towards shore in a hole and set the second rod out in the east and in the jungle weeds in 3 fow. one rod in front of the boat and the other in back of the boat. 9:30 am finally got a run that didnt go to far set the hook and darn landed a eel. then 9:45 am prime time for big cats had a real strong run peeling off line very fast set the hook real hard since it was on shore and fish on turned my head to check my other rod and it was peeling line off at even a faster rate than the one i had on. chaos now what do i do. inched my way back to grab that rod before it was out of line closed the bail and the rod doubled over another fish on. dropped the rod between my legs and held on as tight as i could one cat was pulling me toward shore and the other towards the channel. yikes it was getting interesting to say the least. after a while got the ist one in took a pic measured it and released it 31 inches. started the other rod and that cat was still on but down in the jungle weeds this is going to be a battle now considered pulling anchors since the cat was out there 150 yards in the jungle weeds. instead kept lifting the rod and finally worked it out but would have to keep it high and not let him get down again. dont know how long this was going on but finally got it to the boat but missed it with the net twice and he got under the boat on me. worked him up gradually and just got him in the net and in the boat and the hook came out. a nice almost 35 inch catfish. what a battle and chaos. ist time in 3 years i had 2 cats on the same time but only got one in then. landed one more 28 inch cat at 11:30 and went home. :D
here is ist run and eel. this will make the sawyers happy.

Nice EEL Fishy that one would make a good appetizer. Just roll 1 inch chucks in flower drop it in a cast iron skillet with hot oil and salt to taste. Good Stuff. Traci is going to Maine 4 the week at point Sabago Lake she got some eels their last year so maybe she will bring some home. I will head for grand Isla tomorrow Friday and in-between getting an equipment / Hay pole barn started i will do some fishing. Traci has the camper so i will rough it in a tent this weekend. ( Every buddy have a good and safe weekend) and see you on the water.
