i caught this tonight and it had a nasty bunch on the side of his head. it was very hard and dark colored. going to turn it in to the dec in ny tommorrow if i can. he certainly was healthy enough to battle me for 10 minutes and burning my drag. anyone else ever seen this on drums?

Looks like it grew a foot since I seen it last....Haha

I caught a walleye last year with a similar looking growth. I threw it back.

That's a nasty looking puck on that fish.
WOW, you caught a bunch of them this summer.

I caught my first and only one last week. It was 29" but I didn't have a scale. They are very strong fish, and don't want to leave bottom. I caught it in 70 fow while walleye gigging.

gerry :
they are very strong fish and dont easily give up. thats interesting you caught that down 70 feet. i targeted them hopeing to land a 20 lber but never did.
i fished in 12 foot of water where they were feeding on zebra mussels and crayfish. i used crawlers and dragged bottom and fished the same location out of my boat for all of those sheephead except 8. the 15 lber was caught off a pier. there are boats out in the channel that jig for them and sheephead fishing seems to be increasing on this end of the lake. your fish at 29 inches depending on girth was at least 8lbs plus. i love those eyes. yum yum.
