Another Small Shop Closing FYI

Post by Surprise »

Classic Outfitters in the Blue Mall off Dorset Street in South Burlington to close at the end of June

Sad to see a part of the local fabric of a small independently owned business go away.

Good Bye to a great store. Friendly and helpful folks. I've spent a lot of money in that place for fly and boat fishing. Maybe someone will fill the void.

That's a huge bummer, I really like Classic Outfitters and Rhey is awesome. I will stop by there soon and see what he has to say.

I was amazed to see the signs up last time I was in there! Rhey and his wife are both retiring and setting off to do some more fishing - lucky him. Not sure why the owner doesn't want to keep things running but I think losing Rhey was a big part of it. Sucks to see that place go though. I guess they had a buyer that backed out last minute....too bad. Great people there & always fun to talk to. Going to miss seeing Rhey and Ed.

I don't know them personally but have always enjoyed my stops there.
Bummer to lose it.

I guess the buyer backed out because of a rumor that Cabelas is coming to Williston. Like fly tyers would buy feathers and hooks from a big box store!

It's definitely a huge loss for the fishing community, even if Cabelas comes in.

We certainly don't need Cabela's in the neighborhood.
That's what the internet is for.

The problem with a local Cabela's is that I'd never get my wife out of the store. She goes a little crazy when she sees fishing tackle. Not a bad thing, but I hate to have her beat me to all the good stuff. It's tough competing with a professional shopper. :D

Its a sad note that Cabelas can change the market on just a rumor.
