my first STEELIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
it was a beautiful day on the water with even more beautiful fish!!! my first fish of the day was a very very dark, like almost black, male salmon with a wicked hooked jaw, 22 inches long and very skinny, this fish probly got blown down from the boquette in the north wind. A few salmon later my rigger fires and i grab the rod and am battling the fish when my leadcore doubles over and screams, i'm trying to get the rod in my hand in a rod holder when i look back and see this BIG fish jump outta the water about 150ft behind the boat and my eyes just focused on an ENORMOUS square tail!!!! first jump the fish i kid you not came 3 ft out of the water and i just knew this was a true prize. after several very tense minuets and some incredible acrobatics i saw a very bright and vibrant pink flash, scambled for the net and got the absolutlety most beautiful fish i have ever seen in my life in the boat!!!!! 23 1/2inches long 5.1pound steelhead with extremely bright colors!!!!!!! this is my first steel head so i went nuts screaming and hollering and got right on the radio to share my success!!!!!!!! the rest of the day was great going 26-32 on salmon!!!! fish came from 101ft to the surface, pink and green was the ticket. i cant get pictures off my phone so mabey homewrecker can help me and post the pics or if anyone is able the best picture is on the wall at supercabs! there was another pig steelie caught today but thats not my story soooo. crazy how crazy ivan called that. good day on the water with ya boys!!!
