Great event for sure had a blast fishing with dwane aka fishDr. Launched out of Westport and headed north pick up first laker infront of snake den harbor. trolled to split rock and into whallons a few lakers but nothing much. headed across toward Thompson pt by then it was close to one o'clock so we called it and headed back south due to each of us having other things to do in the afternoon and by the sounds of the weather after the cookout it was a smart move till next time on the water best luck and tight lines

What a great day to be on the lake - especially considering the weather just before and since! And a little storm chaser home sealed the deal as a solid all-season weather fisherman fleet. For an open boat, I was happy that it wasn't too frostbite. As mentioned, thanks for continuing this tradition. I re-watched the VPT outdoor journal from last year before hand, and chuckled/ anticipated about the event. After being off water since July, I was happy not to skunk. 3/6 2 - salmon 18" 3 lbers and a decent laker.
Nice recap of the event with some nice photos of the leader board and winner. Tiny - loved your food shoot! And, quoted from the Admiral from the outdoor journal "the food is the best part" So true, thanks for all those creations. Popsters fishcakes scored, along with Bills sausage! Though I set up camp between Dean and the cherrystone popper. I brought my own hot sauce and had trouble leaving... Though with weather on the horizon, left sooner than I planned and missed the talks

I just want to say thank you for a great experience! Thank you for everyone who made this possible.

Saturday morning was a normal trolling day for us to begin with; Dad (Ken Clark) and I always fish together out of a Sea Nymph GLS 195. We run 2 downriggers and 2 Divers. I set adn run the riggers and Dad does the divers.

I started with the port side rigger, I ran a 20' lead behind the ball and dropped it down 5' and put the cheater on and then continued to drop it to 50'. I repeated the same with the other side and dropped that one to 40' witht he cheater 6' higher. So I could cover the columb from 35'-50'. I then traded for the captains chair and dad set the dipseys with spoons out 120' and 140'. These rigs had our stand by spoons on, silver, copper, gold and red, green and one fire tagger.

As we settled and had breakfast the port rigger fired and I started to reel it in as the starboard rigger fired, We reeled these fish in and released them both just as the port dipsey fired and I grabbed that and started the reel in. Not alot of head shaking so I figured it was a lake trout and as I reeled it in to find a lake trout about 8# and just as the net went out the leader broke just above the spoon and the fish swam away with a brand new red and gold williams spoon. We boated 6 lakers and had 7 on throughout the morning.

The Salmon we caught were 2#-3# about 20". 3 Came on riggers and 1 on a dipsey. The big fish that I caught was the last of the day, we were making the last swing of the day and we were going to head in after this pass. The starboard side rigger fired, imedietly started to peel drag, I grabbed the rod as if I was gettig ready to do battle with a great white. I started reeling and the fish came to the surface, jumping 3 times trying to throw the treble from his jaw. As the fish started to come towards the boat she charged of my left side and tried to get tangled in the dipsey rod and rigger cable but the net was already there. As Dad brought the beauty to the deck we both cheared lowdly and cheered. We then began pulling up the gear and proceeded to head in to Point Bay for weigh in!

This was one othe most fun days on the lake I have ever had and I will not forget it! This is my largest salmon to date and ties me with my elder sister for largest landlocked salmon.

That spoon is the one we lost on the bigger laker first thing Saturday morning!
The new williams spoons are very nice in the water with good action. We do have a couple more in the box now! The one the big salmon came on one that was green with a strip of glow tape that may have Vern home grown.....

Great story thanks for sharing..... I must have been a blast, I acan almost hear you cheating and celebrating..... Love the spoon, It is a great color combination. I will have to swing by VT field sports and pick up a few. Nothing better than fishing with dad!

Got the trophy back today and It's filling up. Time sure flies by....

Patrick Clark is added to the list of Champions! He has lifted the weight bar with his 8lb 13oz beauty and by the looks of some of the takes in the last couple weeks I'm sure it won't hold there.

We are truly blessed and fortunate to have dedicated professional fish culturists that have turned this fishery into what is becoming a Destination World Class Lake.

I'll add a picture of Patrick with his trophy when he stops to get it.

I hope to join the fleet soon on my new Surprise & can't wait!
