well we wrapped up our 2013 season coming home from Oswego on Sunday the 8th...a blow day! Go figure!!
Our season on Lady O was one of highs & lows. I can certainly say there was steadier fishing in Late July & Early August this year, as the end of the month brought many blows that pushed the water temps around a lot. The salmon that came in to stage seemed more tempermental then normal & capitalizing on some quick bites in the early morning was critical to starting off a good box. We tried to mix our catch with some browns & lakers but they too were "here one day & gone the next". we had days were we were targeting kings in 150 fow....... 280 to 400 fow the next! This made it tough to do a mixed bag trip when we normally target browns & lakers from 75 to 110 fow.
I can say we were lucky enough to only have one skunk trip all season...& that was our last trip that begain Labor day evening with a heavy thunderstorm that was the leading edge of a 2 day blow! The tough part is now that most of us are home & wrapped up the season, a late batch of Kings & Cohos has moved in the east end & reports have been really good the last two days...though the current front may switch that again (notice a pattern here) The key to keeping bites going was switching up lure selection often as sun light & cloud cover changed. Fishing temp is critical in the mid summer...but once the Kings move in to stage fish the marks. they will come out of temp to chase. some days late in the season we picked up kings in 55 to 70 fow while targeting Browns...with small NK 28 sized spoons!
We had to cancel 3 trips while we were there due to wind. Over all some great catch's, great fun with old friends & new groups alike! One thing for sure..there is nothing like the screaming run of a King! We boated a personnel best Brown this year at 19lbs & our best King tipped the scale at 32lbs!
The Penn yan is here in the drive way getting ready to be put away for the season. Next week there will be a "new " boat in the driveway as we have purchased a 28ft Baha Cruisers Sportfisherman to offer charters on for the 2014 season! A quick peak below to our platform that will have tons of space & stability for our customers for years to come! getting ready for the fall river season & waterfowl hunting....ahh so much to do! Good luck to all in the frost bite season...see you on the hard water!

Great summary Matt on your late summer season on Lake O. You guys did well! Nice Baja! Bet you can't wait for the 2014 season with the new boat.
We already are counting the days for the Spring 2014 LOC derby. Always something different every year on Lake O and we take it as the the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly over 32 years going over. Can't wait! It never gets old.

See a lot of your updates on FB, congrats on a good season. Didn't get out on Lady O at all this year - first time in about 10 years for that.
Salmon, the other pink meat.
