Another fine Irish name is Guilmette, as I like to say, for one day a year.
Otherwise I remain (you can told by my "Acci-dent") a very French John Parenteau who worked for the Army Corps of Engineers on flood control projects over here in NH for the better part of 30 years (please don't hold it against me). And I must say this as a visitor to Vermont and Lake Champlain, you guys certainly appear to be doing public access right over there. Beautiful boat launches! But I still remember, fondly, walking across the highway over there at the causeway to pay a small user fee to the nice lady at the Apple Tree Campground breakfast shop. And she would send us off with an egg sandwich to go.
You may also know my friends Mike and Donna Deltrecco who reside over there in Essex.
I like the way your boat rides on a nice even keel and thanks for your reply.
Champlain itself is like an old friend I don't get to visit often enough.

Re: Open water soon!
I, like Ken have worked with John Gulimette from VTF&W on numerous site improvements at boat launches in the northern half of VT and his dedication to both his job and our fish and wildlife resources was rewarded by naming the Sandbar access after him.
Some twenty odd years ago I worked with him at the Georgia Shore Van Everest access and we did a bunch of tree and brush clearing and expanded the parking lot. During that time he showed up with a row boat one day and we spent the better part of it sounding and measuring the depth of the lake bottom for ramp improvements and I gave him some budget numbers to build a 200' long breakwater to protect the launch area. Fast forward to present day I am happy to let you know that the ramp at Van Everest is going to be totally reconstructed this summer and the state is doing it right as it will be the twin to the Guilmette access (but no breakwater). John deserves a lot of credit for the condition of our accesses, lets hope the state maintains them!
Back on topic, there is now launchable water down south, FISH ON!!
