We are still asking folks to save a few scales or a snip of the tail fin for Salmon DNA collection for the USFW. We had a ton of samples with the 250 plus live fish this year from April - Shoot Out for Graham's Diet Study / Transmitter fish implanted as well. The 3 year DNA 18 experiments each year with non clipped fish is still ongoing. Date / Location / is fish clipped or not (identify clip) / Length / Weight if over 20" / Released or kept / Name. I put my clipped fins on a paper plate that is coated with wax or teflon to dry out with lines drawn for size quadrants. For example if I have 6 fish all around 17" that are no clips caught Converse the last time out I put them in one small brown envelope and mark 6 fish. Data is important to get these clips to identify out of the 18 experiments what group is surviving for future stocking results. This data will be presented by Kurt Heim at the state of the lake public meeting in March. They can be dropped off at USFW office in Essex Jct. off 2A near the Central Beverage. Kurts contact information for envelopes or information: Kurt Heim: Kurt_heim@fws.com Phone: 856-905-9367. This is a great way to help our fishery!
