Thank You For The Info!

Post by SteelyJoe »

Been meaning to write this for a while....
Thanks for all the info provided on the forum and specifically in the walleye tactic section! All the information you need to target walleye is in this section: when to go, where to go, and proven methods to catch.

Before this past summer I had never targeted the species and between August & October I ended up catching a total of 10. 3 were kept and the rest released. Probably went the first 20hrs without one before things started to click. You can learn alot just by watching the other boats catch when your not.

I trolled two utility spinning rods w 20lb braid and 10lb 20' floro leaders, no fish/depth finder, and using charts to try to be in the right spot. Then I'd try to foul the lures in the weeds on the first pass so I knew where the line was.
Very much a use what you got program!

Best walleye was 29", best sheepshead was 19lb. Look forward to spring to target them a different way, see you out there!

Thanks for your post Joe. That's how most of us learn and get better catching fish.
