Steelie Day
We launched at Converse at 0730 but just barely. Water is a low as it has been all summer and it getting to be a real challenging to make it away from that dock. We motored down to Westport setting four riggers on the NY side holding 170' of water. Thermocline was 65' down but pretty steady. First line to fire had an orange and chartuse speedy fish yielding a very acrobatic 4.2# steelie, great start to the day. We continued south when another pole fired and Mark was on with an acrobatic steelie of his own. Tons of bait throughout the column, and pretty good action. Mid morning we circled to the VT side working our way north picking away at the fish. Pink and white became more favored after the sun was high. We ended the day with 12 on the counter and just a brown short of a slam. Great day on the water
