Team chaos rotary report

Post by Controlled chaos »

Thursday afternoon Rylan and I hit the road north, once we entered southern Vermont we picked up the river rat, stowed his gear and headed north. Few hours later we arrived at Scott (tumamas) and Lynn’s house in charlotte. After setting up the boat and having a great meal we hit the hay.
Friday morning we launched out of Arnold’s looking for a southern bite , started at barbers heading south. It didn’t take long and we were into silver. Bam bam o boy here we go we got a double rolling! Jumping like crazy back and forth netted the salmon then a decent steelie, in the box they go.. worked a few more hours with only small salmon hitting we decided to weight them in, first two one the board. Headed back out for a couple hours trying to find that one bite with no luck, so we headed off the lake for a bite to eat, and set up the boat for a long night of walleye fishing.as soon as we got back to Scott’s to relax for a few hours we received a mayday call from a fellow fishermen Need help boat died! Well boys looks like we’re headed out a lil earlier than planned, so we proceeded to load up and roll, after a quick tow to Arnold’s and great bunch of fun and laughs with fellow fishermen we were off to chase eyes!! We were a bit early so we proceeded to fish and have some fun with multiple species. Sun started to set and my son Rylee’s casting his bass bait caster, he yelled dad!! I’m on I’m on so I look over and here’s a decent walleye swirling at the boat hang on ry I’ll grab the net! As soon as I got back to the front it was gone. Poor kid he almost had it… we proceeded to fish into the dark, nice and quiet just the whizz of the casts
A couple hours passed and bam I’m on! Big fish here we go!
Up comes nice 7.8lb eye in the box she goes..not long after bam! Andy’s on!! Get em! In the net comes a 8lber.
After that the bite went quiet. We fished till we were pretty beat and decided to head for home. Next morning with only a few hours of sleep we headed back out for salmon, bouncing around from converse to kingsland we found some silver willing to bite, we worked through a bunch of salmon but all small, again we headed in for some r&r. Saturday night we headed back out to chase walleye. Casting in the dark Scott says I’m on but it’s acting weird what’s going on? So we turn a light on and a bat flew into his line and got wrapped up! Seriously? That’s how you know you’re a good fisherman lol! First ever on chaos! After releasing the little critter we went back to fishn in the dark.. not long after Scott says I’m on! So Andy grabs the net and up comes a gar!!
Again seriously!?! Another first on chaos! Wow what a cool looking fish measuring roughly 40” after a quick pic and release we headed to the landing, Sunday morning came with some decisions to make, chase silver or a 10lb+laker to have a chance. We steamed over to Essex and set up laker gear and proceeded to troll north to the baquet. We worked the laker grounds with a lot of fish to fight but nothing over 7lbs.
All in all we caught everything we chased but they just weren’t the biggest. I will say besides the temperamental weather we accomplished all our goals and honestly this was the best rotary to date. So much fun with the best crew a guy could ask for!! Thanks guys!

Great report and pics.
Very impressive you all spent so much time on the water fishing cold and warm water species.
Nice catches of untargeted specimens.

Hard to buzz the tower :) glad we got to see you guys, weekend flew by. Hard "buzz" to beat. Unbelievable trip once again team CC. Looking forward to another untargegated trip, really seems to keep the morale up when fishing for ghosts. Who needs sleep when you can fish

Every circus needs and clown and every kingdom needs a joker. Fishing with you guys has taught me a bunch and expanded my horizons, so I'm proud to represent Team Controlled Chaos within my role. CC has history, so I'm happy to contribute two firsts even if they couldn't be weighed! It is one of the best weekends of the year and it's easy to host when we seldom sleep. We ate well (who else has cave aged truffle cheese after a BBQ steak dinner?!!), and the Team is always welcome. Good luck in LCI. That one is not for me but I might be on the water so if you see me give a shout!
