Stealhead, Atlantic and Lakers

Post by VermontHabitatEric »

Great fishing 25May2025 out of Port Douglas.

Fished in 100+ ft of water in front of Ausable river. 2 nice Stealheads 3lbs, 3 Salmons to 6lbs, and many many lakers to 10lbs.

Rainbow Mooselook and Orange Copper Mooslook from surface to 10ft on snap weights caught the stealheads and Salmons. You need to check your line regularly, a lot of debris (leaves, log, and floating grass…).

Will post a video if you are interested.

Very interested Eric… Thanks for the report. That area was way overdue to turn on.

Fish on!

That's a top shelf day for sure! I'd love to see the video. We're going to try Westport or Willsboro later this week. Hopefully we'll have some decent results to post.
See you on the pond!

What's the best way to get in front of the Ausable from the Vermont side, Matt?

I am surprised your recommendations did not include Winooski River.

I came back to post the video. Lower your volume… at time there was some excitement on the boat.

Jump the problem with the winooski is that the mouth has a variable sand bar that many boats won’t wanna forge…

Not to mention the tree minefield from the floaters that land in the delta after coming down river.

I launched at Vantines today and it’s usable..

No dock:(
