Had the good fortune to have old friend “Gecha” Gerry down from Montreal to fish with Lightandvariable and I on Monday. We setup right out of the launch at dawn and had a slower start than last week. After setting up a 4 rigger set with cheaters from 20-40 down and 2 slide divers down 30 and 35 we watched the paint dry for abut an hr or so. With heavy cloud cover it took a while before the sun peeled out and hit the bait enough to get things going. By 8am we landed out 1st salmon. It came in a rigger down 30ish.
Water temps were around 46 top to atleast 60 down. Morning was spent on a slow but consistent bite of all salmon. We didn’t get a white perch till trolling a little NORD of Eagle mtn…
Menu today was long and deep. Started with fresh bagels and cream cheese from Montreal. We then had breaded haddock and maple glazed salmon on the grill, which was amazing!!! The chicken wings came out an hr or so later and were bbqed to perfection in about 35min.. To ensure no one was hungry on the way home we then cooked up some smoked meat sandwiches done Montreal style with mustard. YUM!
In between eating we did land more
Salmon. Not sure how it happened but at 230 I said if we don’t get a bite by 3 we will pull them. Well we found another bite and ended up fishing till after 4pm. The salmon counter ended up at 7 with 4 in the box for Gerry to bring home some fillets to Montreal.
Got to talk to Digitroll in the morning as we worked separate areas to find the best bite. Only saw one other boat out all day!
The amount of the bait we are seeing in the sea right now should setup for a great frostbite season up North!! Been years since I’ve seen this much bait in the sea…
After over 9hrs on the water we decided to call it a day… wow what a beautiful day on them lake. Thanks guys for sharing the trip!!
Fish on!

What a memorable day on the water with great friends. Beautiful weather, nice bites and awesome food.
Thanks Matt for the invite, it's always a pleasure and fun time to be on your boat.
