Bait balls

Post by Dwayne »

I just got back to Lake Champlain this week and was on the water the October 12th. I checked an area that held a lot of bait in the past and found a ton of it. If you put in at port Douglas head north along the shore there is a point that sticks out right towards the south side of Schuyler island. All along this shore I find huge balls of bait but I never see anyone fish it. I tried jigging and had no luck but have had luck in the past trolling. In the past I have caught salmon, whitefish, browns and lakers here. I hope you give it a try and share your what you find.

It’s a very common area to troll. It’s just a time of year that there are very few boats out trolling. Many adult salmon are up the tribs trying to spawn now. The bite is naturally slow till November when it turns on HOT.

With that said I’ll be over in the area your describe with a full crew on Friday, as that is usually one of the more active areas this time of year…

Fish on!
