September Salmon Swarrwarrey
Hit Converse at 1st light with Fishdawg and Vt2U looking for salmon and what ever else wanted to play. We started at Thompsons pt and worked the water to picket. Surface temps were 68 and the thermocline was deep at 70fow.
We set 4 riggers with fixed cheaters between 45 and 70 and a slide diver out 170 with a 13 color lead rod off the top for any long range predators that wanted to play. All sets fired with a slide diver that had a wonder bread flashking on it taking honorable mention for the whole day. Prob got 3 salmon and 5 lakers on that single set:)
We did not boat any monsters today but had an active day for Sept! At one point at 2pm we had triples on with 2 lakers in one rigger rod and a salmon on another!
Menu consisted of dry rubbed pork spare ribbes
Followed up with some spicy chicken wings:)
Thanks to Mistress for showing up at 8am and boating a nice 23” salmon early to get us on the bite. Sometimes it’s better to have good friends than it is to be good:)
Over all it was a blast today with great weather and company. thanks Steve and Matt for a memorable day in the pond in Sept! Ending with the counter at 17 was a great surprise for a Sept fishing trip…

Re: September Salmon Swarrwarrey
Friday I got an invite to go out with Matt and Steve to target salmon with the full trolling setup. Being a kayak fisherman makes the experience of a boat like this feel like Willy Wonkas factory crossed with Talladega Nights. So much room for activities! The suspense is terrible... I hope it lasts! Cross-posting this from my Facebook post with some images inline for those who aren't on there. Last time I didn't do a write up and I really enjoy getting invited out so I figured I should do it this time

I met the gentleman at the boat launch and we got started with a beautiful sunrise out over the mountains and lake. We did a bunch of driving around before we got on a solid bite. Had a bizarre double up with two over achieving white perch before we finally found some salmon... and a lot of lakers.

I'm still getting the hang of all of the trolling gear, but it's really fun to help out and once you understand the strategy its fun to consider the depths marks are at vs the thermocline etc.

That being said I think I ended up fighting one of the diver discs TWICE because I'm just... like what the hell is all this STUFF!? I have an immense respect for the time and effort you guys put into your boats, the setups are awesome.
I really enjoy some of these "frozen in a moment" shots I got of Matt releasing one of the salmon.

One of the most fun parts of the day was this surprise smallmouth we got trolling... the fish don't know they aren't supposed to do that!

Speaking of awesome, the ribs and wings we had were delicious. For someone who's used to sandwiches and cliff bars in the kayak the propane grill on the side rail is a thing to behold.

Steve brought some great ribs with I think a St. Louis dry rub and Matt did something with Old Bay and some kind of sweet / hot sauce. Sometimes hot food when you are exhausted and tired can really bring you back... the wings were so good and exactly what we needed.

I was trying to record an outro for the video when the biggest salmon of the day hit Steve's blue stickbait. It was the perfect cherry on top of an already fantastic day. It also was maybe twenty minutes AFTER we all decided to fish "just a little more" and I'm so glad we did.

I still think you trolling guys are missing out on the excitement of jigging lakers but I realize I'm probably not going to convince anybody who has invested in a setup this awesome. Jigging, trolling or just throwing bobbers I'm just happy to get out and catch some fish.
Thanks again to Matt for the invite, I actually started editing the video so no promises but hopefully soon.

Still can’t believe the best salmon of the day came from Steve’s over sized for salmon stick bait. I laughed when you deployed it and expected a small mouth, not a silver!

And if you got room let me know! If not let me know, I’ll take Reelax and put a couple crew in for a fleet…
Never seen a quadruple quote reply. Had to do

Let's make it 5! Weather is crazy! Trying to hit the rivers but it seems like a late run. I'm sure there are fish already at the Salmon Hole! Rain would help!
