We just got back from our annual trip jigging lakers and it was very productive. My partner and I fished 4 hours on Saturday and landed 22. Sunday was sunny, which they liked and the afternoon bite was great, ending it with 67. Monday was still good, although more of a pick, ending with 40. Tuesday after the storm was tough. We fished for 4 hours for 6 fish and lost the same number.
Some days the active fish were in 60, then the next day 90, yesterday they were in 105. Jigs and plastic were doing well, although various jigging spoons also worked. Our technique is the same as we drifted through schools. If the wind was still, we would use the motor to push us.
Many fish had lampreys on them, others had scars. I would say well over 50%. We had several fish at 10lb, but nothing over that. It's been a few years since we've seen a 15lb fish

Re: Willsboro Lakers 2024
Thanks for the laker report. Weird how the big lakers seems to top off a year or 2 ago… do fleas effect verticle jigging at all? just wondering…

Very rarely do you get a flea, so they didn't affect the fishing at all. There were some buoys out by Schuler reef from UVM. Does anyone know what they are studying?
