What an amazing trip! huge fish ! I love the driftboat, great seeing your brother rowing it around. nice seeing another fisherman who rows !
I do not exaggerate when I talk about fishing - I underestimate, like I say "just one more cast honey, then I'll come home" !
Keep Calm and... Fish On !

Sorry this “Alasking” verb doesn’t stop or allow much time to post. We are now sitting in a fishin bar in Seward called the Seward ale house. After a 2 hr drive around Kenai lake and across the Kenai peninsula.

No time to post. I’m looking at charter boats and the wife is so tired I may have to load her with a wheel barrel;)

Last night we fished till 10pm in the Swanson river in Bear country. Packing heat and spray doesn’t really make you feel safe when you get deep in the bushes.

Here’s some pics. Our dry time is over and the 2nd half of the vaca will be with rain gear on:)

Some pics of Seward and the trip to Kenai Fjords glacier national park. Sorry for the poor pic quality, it’s raining here for rest of the trip.

Seward sea life center aquarium and the Glaciers were very interesting, and I even spotted Fathead Comming in after trolling salmon out in front of Seward harbor;)

Last image is the box weights of Ricks guests this year. Some stayed longer than others and some included halibut trips so had bigger ship weights. I only kept the sliver salmon streaks and the sockeye fillets for home and many sockeyes Theresa and I got were too red to keep at end of Aug so we only are bringing 35lbs home:(

Between brother Rick and his buddy Aaron who also has a house here…. they shipped over 1700 lbs of fish home for guests this year.

Don’t be between a good silver bite and these guys, they will roll over you:)

Today is last day and we HAD to go back to the Kenai one more time. I got my smallest coho and 2 of my biggest sockeye. So well worth being fishy on last day:) not keeping fish due to fly out so couldn’t get great pics of the big boys. The one floating next to net was around 28” and 15lb…. I got one bigger 5 min later that beat the hell outta me trying to get a good pic, and he won! That fish was over30” and 20lbs..

Leaving in 6hrs:(

At the anchorage airport ready to board, we will be home some time tomorrow afternoon.

What a trip! Here are a few pics of going back to anchorage around turnaget arm…

By the way the Z registration Tina is putting on n her plate is a LIFETIME Reg! Thus the celebration…

The plane crash is my Nefew. He lost oil presure and cooked his motor over the sterling highway and had to put down. It was fine… until he saw traffic Comming and had to turn to avoid a car and hit the guard rail. Plane is totaled, but it has insurance. He will be able to take us on sea plane jumps trips next time up… (if I dare:)

Just a few pics to close out the story. I am not sure if I will be buying a place to summer in Alaska or Just renting a camper to drive to all the fishing hot zones till we decide on a on a spot..But Theresa and I Both agree the people and country there can’t be compared to anything we have ever experienced before and we will be back many times…

Theresa’s 1st ever red (Sockeye) while flossing our n the Kenai!! Biggest fish if the night. I think this was 9pm;)

Arrgh!!!
Matt,
I just saw your post as I've been off forum for weeks.
Sounds like you had a great time. I had been going to AK as you know for 20 years and guiding for 15 from Seward to Talkeetna. But the Kenai had always been my favorite. I'm sure you'll have more great times in the future. I still have about 5 pounds of Mepps #5 and #6 from the guiding days and other stull.
Let me know if you ever have an opening for a tag along.
