Having BBQ in the Dallas airport:) been traveling since 6am and we are only half way there. Next flight is 8hrs but atleast it touches down in Anchorage.
Fishing reports soon! Brother has been buying up some guide gear to ensure we don’t run outta toys to play with in the river:)
These three guys are Theresa and I’d guide this week. Hope we are safe:)
He sent pics of todays catch. Man the dolly’s look like little Brookies:)

Re: Alaska trip
We made it! After leaving the house at 2:30am we arrived in Anchorage at 11:30pm with the 5 hr time differential we traveled for over 24 hrs. After that trip we decided to get a hotel for the night in Eagle River not driveing the 3 hrs around the Cooke inlet down the Kenai peninsula to the river Till morning;)
Here is a pic last night at 11pm AK time of the mountains on the Alaska panhandle as we came up the coast of prince william sound. What a view to see the 19k tall peaks poking above the clouds..
The adventure begins with a senic 3 hr drive this morning. Can’t wait!

Re: Alaska trip
After over a day of traveling we have reached my little brothers house we saw both reds(sockeye) and chum salmon spawning in williwaw creek on the way to his house …
To my surprise his house looks more
Like a fish camp than a hotel! love it! We are headed to the boat now it is 4pm here now and we still have 7 more daylight hrs to fish! What jet lag:)

Re: Alaska trip
Omg 1st time I’ve thrown in the towel after only 2 hrs.
Too many sockeye to count and 4 coho. All within no bait. Bare hooks!
Day one done, not sure how it can be beat;)

Re: Alaska trip
8am here, gonna post a couple videos of willowwaw creek where sockeye and chum salmon were spawning on the gravel beds… sooo many fish. You could watch the males pair up with a female and follow her to her brooding holes and fertilize every time she laid eggs.
Also here is a few fishing vids from yesterday. The bite was so good there … we are taking wives back in the spot today:)

Re: Alaska trip
Ok days are getting better and fish are getting bigger. Theresa landed 2 of the biggest salmon today. Sockeyes that are starting to show color. Aaron has been fishing the Kenai for 17 years and he is probably as good or better this river than the charter Capt we have booked for today!
Fresh meal at Aaron’s house at 11pm and do it again at 5am. There is a verb up here called Alasking. It mean eat when you’re hungry, sleep then your tired, and fish, hunt or hike the rest of every moment. Love it!
Here are some pics from today. Little brother even gave me a spin around in his new drift boat!

Re: Alaska trip
So today we booked a charter on the lower Kenai for the girls to sit in comfort and be shown some spots and techniques from a pro. Once again, Alaska did not dissapoint. We had such a good time that Rick and I stayed aboard to fish the full 13hrs with a couple from South Carolina in the after noon we fished from 6am to 7pm today:)
Started around river mile 14 and ended up as the tide
Ran out at the 3 mile point from the Cook Inlet. The more
Toward mouth we went the bigger the silvers (Coho) salmon got;)
When the girls picked us up we were beat and ready for solid ground;) 13hrs on the river were like being in clouds
Nine for a whole day!
Saw seals chasing salmon almost into the boat. Saw bald Eagle families hanging out at various spots. Had a moose cross the river about 20 yards upstream from us. Just to mention some fun… don’t mentions the huge silvers!
Now for some pics
