Painted the floor today. Put on a coat of paint and then scattered on some coarse sand. Two coats after that dried gave a nice no-slip finish.

Turned out pretty good but I would use less coarse sand next time. Finished last coats on transom and splashwell too.

Got quite a bit of work done in the past week. Sealed and installed access ports in floor, installed and ran wiring to console. Installed new-to-me Taco T-top. Painted powerhead and lower unit what I think was their original color. An upgrade from the olive drab when I got everything. I don't have pics of all of this. I must have been hurrying more so I could get out on the water with the fam.

Got the leaning post reinstalled. I moved the center console and leaning post forward about 12"-16" to give us more space for fishing on the rear deck. It was a good move since now two people can move from port to starboard past each other without having to squeeze by. Ended up with almost 6' behind the seat with an 8' beam. Lots of good space for working downriggers and fighting fish.

By the next day, this is where we were:
Image

Had to let the paint on the engine fully cure and harden. Outfitted the boat with all of the gear from the 18' Starcraft SuperSport that I was prepping to sell(to pay for this project). The powerhead started right up! Unbelieveable! No overheat issues, pumped water. Shifted properly. Ran a can of Powertune through it and put in fresh sparkplugs. Then we got ready to watertest! You can really see the difference in size and fishability between the 18' Supersport and the newly finished 22' Mariner when they're placed side by side to move gear over. Looking forward to our new ride!

Finally got my schedule and the kids schedules to line up with the weather schedule. We had a great day on the water. Our personal smallest salmon was caught (and successfully released) that day on our shakedown. Can't believe how tough it thought it was to go after that spoon! Thanks for reading.

Kept one each for dinners on days when we aren't so successful.

Eventually, we got out for some warm water fins and more smiles...

Very nice job !

I'm looking forward to rebuild my own boat 1991 (by someone else), I think this is a good decision when you love a boat and you see it aging not very well, I prefer to repair something you like instead of trash and buy a new one

Thanks Everyone. Glad you enjoyed the read. I certainly enjoyed the rebuild and glad to have it documented somewhere now. Getting her ready for my shakedown. If not this weekend, hopefully next.

Glad you enjoyed it. Even if I don't catch enough fish to contribute to the Fishing Reports much, I can at least contribute to Rebuild Reports.
Some of the first water that my boys and I took her out in was 4' from a north wind in Memphremagog. Wasn't too bad but I think fishing anything more than that might feel more like work. Like you said, it was stable and handled it well. ...still prefer less.
