Hello Friends and fellow anglers!
Apologies for the lateness of this announcement, but, we just got approval from the state to hold the annual LCU DYP salmon tournament. Tournament date is set for Saturday May 13, 2023, with a blow date of Sunday may 14 if it is too windy to hold on Saturday.
I'm not one to reinvent the wheel (when I know that is what I'm doing), so I'm going to heavily use a cut and paste option from last year's announcement. Thanks Jeff.
I will be putting out a post for the sign up. Same rules as last year.
- Enter with a boat or without a boat. We will pair up teams in a drawing. Tentative drawing date; May 5th.
- Like last year, if you have children under 16, you can enter as a family team. You can bring multiple children, but only 4 rods can be in play.
- You can launch anywhere on Lake Champlain that you want. Weight in will be at 2:00 at the Converse Bay launch. You must be at the launch at 2:00 to have your fish weighed.
- There will be a pot luck BBQ after the weigh in. Please bring something to share and mingle with the highly knowledgable fishermen in the derby.
There isn't a better group of guys to talk to about fishing on Champlain.
-No cost to enter.
There will be more details to come, but that is the general framework of the event.
In the meantime on this thread, I encourage everybody who has ever participated and has a picture from a past event to share, please post it here.
I'll start:

Jack, Thanks for taking this on! I regret that I will not be available, as I have a surgery date of 5/8 and will be just getting home while laid up. Good luck to ALL!

Re: DYP 2023 IS On! 5/13/2023
Hello, I met a friendly dude named Joe at the boat launch in Lewis Creek a few weeks back and he told me about this cool DYP tournament.
I filled out the form, looks like the drawing is on May 5th so I wanted to post here to give an intro.
I have a small boat but I have been getting out on my kayak more often recently. Got a few lakers trolling this season but vertical jigging is my favorite way to fish. I've only caught one salmon on lake champlain but to me thats proof you CAN do it... you dont need a big fancy boat to make it happen. That being said I am excited and grateful for the opportunity to fish on someone else's big fancy boat
I have a small youtube channel called VT2U https://www.youtube.com/@VT2U and I'm hoping I can get paired with someone who is ok with me filming the day and making an episode out of it.

I don't know about the boat in that picture, but, where it was taken I about a 5 minute walk from my house. I'm sure we've crossed paths at redgate before. Welcome aboard!
