Well I went and picked up “Charlie” and he was enjoying retirement with the 2020 LCI winning salmon and the current Lake record Lake trout. Doug has been busy, now that Covid is over he said he is open for business and delivering mounts from that last 2 years!
Yeee haaa
Double fish pic is of the 11.2lb salmon Dave Adams caught on Reelax in the Datillio derby with the 7.2lb brown next to it.
Fish on!

Very nice fish looks awesome! How do you go about keeping the fish looking good to get over to the taxidermist been wanting to get some done myself but not sure how to keep them looking good to get to the taxidermist?

As soon as you get the fish freeze it flat in the freezer in a plastic bag. Keep it frozen till you hand it to the taxidermist.. the wierd thing is that when Doug mounted my wife’s brown from years ago he sent me a note about how good the meat was when he thawed it months later:)

Congrats Matt! Those are very nice specimens. A lot of effort behind those fish and the taxidermist did a an excellent job.

Doug told me to dampen a towel and wrap the fish in that, then in a plastic bag. My son's 10" pumpkinseed came out great!
And it's nice that you finally get to see "Charlie" again, Matt. Congrats on that beauty! Those salmon and that laker are huge! Now I see what a lake-record laker really looks like.

Get a 11" roll of vacuum sealer bag, cut to length, vacuum seal the fish, wrap it in a wet damp towel, and freeze it flat on a cookie sheet. Vacuum sealing it keeps the air out, and the damp towel is good protection in the freezer.
