Boy does this make me want to hang up the tipups and uncover my boat! Great report and an entertaining read! We landed a one eyed laker last summer too, seemed healthy and hungry as he bit a 5” magnum northport nailer. I look forward to the next reports, good luck and tight lines!

Great day on the water! I have heard reports over the years from long time Quabin Reservoir lake trout guys, about fish that were all scraped and wounded on one side, ruining the eye. This is from fish laying on their side, to bottom feed.

Best fishing of the year is when you are the only boat out and can scope the birds with binos unbothered and work your way into the action on troll and hammer the cold water fish feeding on the surface when the bait is pushed the the top. Winter trolling is Majic... the best if Any season to be in a boat. I’m happy to say we have open water and the BEST is yet to come:)

That's what I've been told. They turn on their side to give their mouth a better angle to clean up dead stuff on the bottom. Maybe Quabin has a more coarse bottom, and the effects are greater than Champlain. I have heard of this also from Sunapee.Reelax wrote:Really?????C-Hawk wrote:Great day on the water!
