Westport Launch

Post by saltr »

Hello Everyone. Just got a notice from DEC that the Westport State Launch will be closing Oct. 15 through Nov. 29 to dredge the launch area. Just a heads up!

That’s great news maybe they’ll stop ignoring the large mound of rocks and debris at the Port Henry launch as well. Just a heads up to all it’s on the railroad track side of the launch from years and years of boats powering their boats on trailers. Be aware water is low

Port Henry is good DEC launch, plenty of parking, about a 12 mile run to the Marina, some good fishing on the way - take a right at the bottom of the hill as you leave the village center - Rose & Keirnan Insurance office is on the corner

Has anyone heard anything about the dredging that was scheduled to be done last fall at the Westport Launch? Have not seen anything on the DEC site recently!

I bought the place next to the boat launch to the south, it's pretty shallow in there by late August. I wouldnt mind having some dredging done in front of my place but I imagine the permitting process is probably insurmountable. I'll just Mark Twain my way in and out of there for now.
