Fishing vacation

Post by Crazy Ivan »

Another great Rotary Derby in the books. Fished down south Friday and Saturday fished mid lake on Sunday each day was great fishing.
Blue moon, Sausage gravy milkshake, mad dog and fat Ivan were our hot spoon. It was a rigger bite for us 20-30 feet on the riggers with fixed cheaters 5’ above the main line. We did not run boards at all and only ran mini disc for the extra 2 rods.
I can’t say enough good things about the quality and abundance of salmon in the lake. We surly didn’t even come close to having a fish to weigh in but I will take a boatload 3-4lb salmon over 1 lucky 8lber any day.
I have been On the water almost everyday since the rotary, moving around to different areas of the lake trying to find spots holding fish and places we can hide from this coming weekend big winds. The fishing has been outstanding from Thompson’s point south. We have even managed some very nice Browns and Steelhead.
Good luck to everyone in the LCI!

Only had time to fish a lake closer to home Sunday that only holds lakers and walleye. Caught a bunch when they turned on in the afternoon but the only spoons that caught were the Crazy Ivan's - golden shiner and red canoe, and dragged faster than my usual laker speeds, ran about 2.25, and a short burst of throttle consistently triggered strikes. Hope to be chasing silver this week. Paul

He's too modest: If Todd catches an 8+ lb salmon I won't be attributing it to luck, especially in high winds! SGM and FI have been hot, and catching is getting better, but I'm skipping LCI to chase saltwater fish in the Keys and to visit my daughter this year. Good luck to all the anglers on the lake this weekend. Stay safe and have fun.

Thanks for the great day on the water yesterday Todd... you proved there are still big salmon on the lake after landing a 23” fish and after I broke off on a much larger 27-28” class fish during battle... good to see mature silvers come to play again.

Funny how you can predict a strike with the new fish finder!!! Almost every time!!

Todd, when fishing 20ft down what kind of speed are you trolling specially with the water still cold?
How far back?

Fish Reveal on the Lowrance is amazing. It’s a Ti gen2?
