Raised downrigger pedastils

Post by Vtmopar »

I wanted to see what other ideas some of you would have. I want to move my downriggers off my gunnels in to a more solid spot.
Fiberglass boat, never really liked where they are.
Place I have I would need to raise them 12".
Cannon downriggers.
was curious if anyone has a better idea. Figured when theyre not in use I could mount rod holders or something else.
This is what I'm looking at:

I have used Big Jon pedastils before and they are great. One thing about risers is they add leverage so make shure where you are mounting them is sturdy enough and use backers if you can. Ramel

I am using 6" risers for my downriggers and they work great. Like JabberJaws says, the risers add stress to the mounting surface, so make sure you have a good solid attachment.
