Hit the inland sea again on Wed morning with Da and Lightandvariable.
We setup with 4 on the otters 100 back and 2 lead off the gunnels one Color and a color and a half on the other. We were into fish all morning and all sets fires. Today we hit the shallow program, spent lots of time in 8fow where it was warmest around 50deg. It was great to see the salmon dorsal fins surface next to the boat as they ate off the surface. We targeted where we went by the salmon breaching.
When we got to the launch we were 1st on the water but buy the time we got back to Apple at noon there were 22 other trailers parked.. sounds like the fleet is having a good time...
Great to see Fishdawg our sister Osprey out and also Pete Murray with a full crew including Cowboy riding shotgun... gotta love a spring Weekday on the pond...
We caught a small salmon that looked like it was bit across the body by a large pike and got free... luck boy.. we let him go..
I opened a new rapala today and take a look at the salmon teeth marks from one 4 hr troll.. that will tell ya how the bite is..
7am till 11am-18 in net... if your note trolling salmon yet.. your missing a great bite..
Gonnna hit it again Mon Tue, wed... it’s on! Then fri, sat,sun... time to find the pigs...
Time to scout for the DYP..
Fish on!

Nice read Matt, good to hear the Sea is hopping. Those marks look like a swing and a miss from an eagle/osprey.

That’s what’s we thought too Mark... but after reviewing the pics you can see the whole outline of a round mouth.. look closer.... do you agree?
There are big boys in the shallows too and they like protein

Matt!! Don't go showing everyone my lucky lure! I love those little green Rapalas (Tennesee shad, I believe it's called). That was the hot lure when Perchbait and I went out 2 weeks ago. Haven't been able to get back out since and it's killing me.
Re: fishing the skinny water on the inland sea
Either a special paint job by Reelax or discontinued color. Only thing somewhat similar on rapala website is brook trout but that has spots.
Re: fishing the skinny water on the inland sea
That lure is a Rapala Husky Jerk in Tennessee shad color. A dynamite bass lure. Never tried it for salmon trolling but it looks like I should. Thanks for sharing, Matt.

The salmon chew it like bubble gum and the hooks are solid unlike the yosuri junk hooks you have to replace after one salmon...voyager wrote:That lure is a Rapala Husky Jerk in Tennessee shad color. Change the treble on the Yosuri right off the box before loosing a big salmon.Reelax wrote:The salmon chew it like bubble gum and the hooks are solid unlike the yosuri junk hooks you have to replace after one salmon...voyager wrote:That lure is a Rapala Husky Jerk in Tennessee shad color. Was at the Sandbar yesterday; very slow, 4 salmons and keep only one, they were to small. All on blue and orange Rapala.
