Tuna fishing on the LongFin out of Ocean City with Gerry!
I was lucky enough to to be invited down to Ocean City Maryland this past week to stay in Gerry (Gecha) condo rental all week.
What a beautiful spot with unlimited fishing opportunities...
We headed out this morning on a friend of his's Marlin yacht.. The LongFin. It is a beautifully setup 50footer with twin Diesel engines. We headed out of the OC inlet at 5am for 40 mile run to the grounds...
Around 720am we setup and by 8am fish on!
We picked away are small skipjack tuna's till around noon... Weather great and surface temp 84! We had outrigger lines, spreader bars, down rigger, we dragged ballyhoo and big plugs a foot long... 75 to 120lb test with wire leaders.
Around noon it was my turn in the chair and a smaller rod with 75lb test fired with a 10" deep diver plug on..
Fish on! And it was not a small fish... After a 20 min battle that th fish almost won, we gaffe a nice 25lb yellowfin around 30" and it was over the 28" limit...
YUM YUM!
After we tired of trolling we visited some wrecks and jigged cut bait, squid, and yes... Alwifes In 65 ft of water. Everyone got in on the action. Flounder, skates, sea bass, and more.. Oh my. I got a nice 24" flounder
and another 21" flounder for the box here..
Wow it's now 730pm and we should head in!
After 15 hrs trip we were beat... Time to head in, 4hrs after all the other charter boats headed in Over 150miles covered today in one trip! After catching Yellowfin and Flounder for 1st time ever, it will be was a trip of a lifetime for me..
We are driving thru Inlet now in dark at 830pm

We had a great time on the water.
Captain Tom and mate Lange are wonderful people.
Weather was perfect and the boat was very comfortable.
Not sure if it was the shirt, but Matt attracted most of the fish to his rod.
What a superb yellow fin tuna
and later he caught 2 oversize flounders.

Can you guess what they're doing?
1 - Praying Allah ?
2 - Puking sick ?
3 - Watching football on an hidden TV ?
4 - Watching sea floor through a glass bottom ?
5 - Searching for beer in the man cave ?
6 - All of the above ?
7 - None of the above ?
I won't tell if they don't

A TRIP TO REMEMBER!
Nice Flatties, used to get them regular like that in the IR inlet back in my youth.
Skippers are fun, but the yelllowfins are even more fun, glad you got on one, that's nice eats and so are those seabass.
So glad to see you had a great trip.
