flounder fishing
Fished solo for an hour last evening after work. Beautiful weather. Is was almost slack tide so I ventured at the entrance of the inlet and dropped my line in 35 fow. Didn't take very long and my rod bent hard. I thought I had a rock bass as it was fishing hard to stay at bottom. Finally got it to the surface and wow... I better get the net.
Once in the cooler I went back to the same spot and dropped a new bait, and same result.
Ended up catching twins 21" flounders.
Guess what we're having tonight

Caught both of them on combination of minnow and squid.fishy1 wrote:awsome gerry nice ones and great eating. what did you catch them on.
Caught a bunch of throwbacks this year. These are my first keepers.
We used to catch 1 or 2 almost every outings in previous years, now it's getting tougher.
Sometimes I also use shiners, Gulp Alive, jigs....

September is supposed to be good time to catch big flounders as they are stuffing before their migration south. But again, is it a myth or reality... you'll know when you get thereWallyandre (Andre) wrote:Interesting! Hope I can catch some in September

I used to use Green Machines with a minnow & squid strip too...they're deadly on flatties.
I would drift them right in the inlet near the Oceanic fishing pier. That stretch between the Totem pole, the Oceanic pier and the Sunset pier were always good, just had to watch out for intense boat traffic.
