Re: White Marlin Open
Not all boats showing up are for fishing.
We also see some nice cruisers. Here's the Viva Mas

Re: White Marlin Open
This one comes every year.
The Amarula has its own 3 engine fishing boat, 2 jet skis on the lower floor, a dingy on the top floor, wakeboards on the sides, and all the amenities you can think.

Do you want a BIG flat screen TV ?
Check this boat...It has one on each side.
The captain is running the boat using a remote control.

Re: White Marlin Open
Only 12 days left Matt.
Today we have some rain and t-storms. It should clear out tonight.
Rest of the week looks warm and sunny.
Planning to go offshore fishing Wednesday in the tournament. Maybe will eat tuna or Mahi-Mahi.

Re: White Marlin Open
I fished the WMO on Wednesday Aug 9. We went 65 miles offshore. Left the dock at 5:30 am
We had the lines in the water 3 hours later.
Around 7 am we had a white marlin teasing with one of the bait multiple times but he would take a full bite. We had great weather all day but fishing was at a stand still until 5 minutes before lines out, we got a hard hit on the long line. It pulled about 200 yards off the spool at an incredible speed. We set the hook and started pumping the rod then suddenly nothing. We did not see the fish but it must have been a big one as it broke the hook apart.
As we started heading back, we saw a yellow barrel floating, and as we approached, we could see a bunch of fish hiding below.
We got real close and threw some bait and the fish started jumping all over.
We ended up catching 2 mahi-mahi and 5 skipperjacks (small tuna).

Re: White Marlin Open
In the inlet, we had to wait in line for the drawbridge to open.
We got back at the dock around 7 pm. By the time we cleaned the boat and got the fish cleaned, we all needed a good rest.

Re: White Marlin Open
WMO ended last Friday. Winning fish caught a 95.5 lb white marlin. Estimated grand price close to $2.5 millions.
Last year, they had 1389 whites caught (almost all released), this year only 409. Weather was not as nice this year.
Looking forward to next year.
