The Point Bay Ramp is closed for the season to the public the manager told me 2 weeks ago due to 250 boats and sailboats recently hauled out and stored in the yard. With that being said I decided to give Converse a try hoping to avoid a Burlington launch for the shoot-out with the recent rise in the lake.
8 days away and the lake is stuck at 93.8 feet. Hopefully the next 48 hrs we will get some additional rain that will get us to 94 feet and above. It was calm with no south wind blowing in and making a trough to get stuck in the muck between the waves. I noticed there are still sailboats and rec. boats moored not to far from the launch I decided to roll the dice solo and test the skinny waters yesterday.
All good! Fished 1.5 hours and grew weary of the Northwest winds that picked up shortly after setting up beyond Picket. Pretty quiet out there with no boats in sight or at the ramp.
Thanks for the report Ron. I know you all want rain to raise the lake a bit, but I would like to rain to stop a bitand wind to calm down so I can put my rig in the water since spring.
Hope to make it to the shootout depending on weather.
We need every drop of rain Gerry. The winds have been relentless the last few weeks.
Just a friendly reminder that the boat ramp at Point Bay is closed for the season to the public Todd told me even for those renting a transient dock. They still have boats still being pulled from the water and need ever inch of space. By water only to Point Bay.
A week from now we will have awarded the Shootout Trophy and that person will join another group making them one of 8 Great people on the planet that achieved their place in history!
Like the number of Astronauts that have Walked on the Moon!
The water may be not what we want but we are a tough innovative group that make up the Frostbite Fleet. We will show up and make a go of it again.
From the weather service: Saturday,Partly sunny, with a high near 52. West wind 3 to 8 mph.
I have to work till Thursday and hope to get in a float. Peter and Al are with me on Surprise again.
I look forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones too. Please say Hi! Randy
Looks great for the shoot-out with the lake at 93.97 ft at the Echo Center for real time graph plot for this morning. Up about 8" since the low of a few weeks ago. That is huge!
