I was in Niquette's Bay last Saturday when this same boat came in and basically looked as he owned the lake. Came in hard (there were at least 100 boats hanging around) rocked everyone around and set anchor where he wanted. Everyone was up in arms. I consider this C&N type driving and they should be cited.

I've seen that boat, she's moored in Burlington. Same thing happened to me yesterday while I was setting my riggers, a boat the same size came charging down on me, about the same distance away, massive wake. Had to stop rigging until the waves got by me. Only difference is I had a few more choice words than you did.

Any body got a hull number? I got no problem speaking to this guy in person or thru authorities...I'll post his number all over...no problem. This video is great and we've got three guys here that have all seen this boat acting up.

It seems to have gotten much worse over the past 5 years. Bigger boats with selfish operators don't make for a good day for a guy just wanting to fish. I used to enjoy Malletts Bay with its variety of fishing areas, but now it seems like it's a constant battle to fight the wakes and rude boaters. I fish to relieve stress, not to increase it. I fear that once the State completes the Apple Island ramp, we'll lose the serenity of that area too. Progress? Not in my opinion.

I have seen similar behavior. Growing up my Dad drilled into my head the safe boating rules and also some common courtesies that went beyond those rules.

I'm with Gerry. The guy needs to be reported and this video would be quite handy to show em. In addition to that, a conversation with a few sportsmen would be good too. Count me in for that conversation.

That's because nobody at the State level has the guts to plan, propose, and push the idea of further regulating a launch. Fishing as a priority at a ramp isn't enough! Since Apple Island has the other launch, the NEW launch should have signage that says: "BOAT RAMP IS FOR BOATS BEING LAUNCHED
FOR THE PURPOSE OF FISHING OR HUNTING ONLY" and a plain-clothes State Cop and/or Warden monitoring it randomly.

I pulled u pto the dock at Converse yesterday, tied off to go get the trailer. Dude polishing up a run-down Macgregor 26 tied up to the west side of the dock. Said he had been there for hours "waiting for someone." Ok, I guess that's fair enough. I am about to get out of my boat, and three people walk down the dock with bags. I can't get by, so I patiently wait, tidying up a few things. After talking about sailboats with the Macgregor dude, one of the party on the dock says, "Are you going to be here long?" I said, "No, just waiting to go get my trailer." He responds, "well we need to get picked up by them! We don't want to wait too long." and points at another 26-ish sailabout out in the bay, sails furled and motor running. I said "two minutes."

I was annoyed but being so grumpy lately didn't want to be unkind and said nothing. However, here it is next day and I read this thread and I am thinking, "Are you going to be here long?" Geeeeez. I'd only been tied up for like 60 seconds already!

Coming to the Apple Island Launch near you.

We need to have someone at State level plan, propose, and implement the following:

BOAT RAMP IS FOR LAUNCHING OF BOATS FOR THE
PURPOSE OF FISHING AND/OR HUNTING ONLY
Violators subject to $500 fine

After all, the Apple Island launch is right there and we have had no problem paying them when we launch there. Boaters who are not hunting or fishing should have no problem paying to launch and since they don't pay very much (other than boat gas? Maybe?) anything to launch at a F&W launch they shouldn't be able to use it.

Incidentally, I have had to pay many times to launch at various places like Canadarago in NY - they have a gatehouse and pay station right at the launch. Manned daily. Lake Carmi State Park, Waterbury Reservoir have pay stations, as well as others in Vermont. Apple Island could be profitable for F&W if managed correcltly...........<

Doesn't make any sense why that boat would come so close when all he has to turn is turn the wheel slightly to end up hundreds of yards away from you....only a matter of time before he seriously hurts someone.

I used the state launch at Apple Island, yesterday, and it was a chore to load up. They say to clean the trailer and boat of weeds. I did my best, but they were so heavy that I had them stuck between the bunkers and the boat. Fortunately, I only fish in LC, so the contamination thing isn't an issue. Maybe the State will also set up a clear path in and out of the cove. Next year?

Yup...and there are those that were/are wondering why I was "on the fence" over the free public launch at Apple Island.
